Wow, it’s been too long.

Note:  I started writing this last week sorry for the past and present tense!

I had good intentions of writing up my food journal last night when I was slacking from painting Lukah’s room with Tim but I didn’t.  Riley woke up with a monstrous nose bleed and that kept my busy until the wee hours of the morning.  I kinda fell asleep in his bed waiting for him to go back to sleep.  Poor little guy I always feel bad for him when he gets woken up but nose bleeds/vomit/scary noises.  The night before I just didn’t do it.  I had other things to do that seemed important at the time even though I can’t remember what they were.  Anyways, here it goes for Thursday!

  • Denny’s ultimate omelet with whole grain toast and decaf coffee with 2 sugars and two milks.
  • Taco time small beef taco and a chicken burrito.  Lots of hot sauce, I love hot sauce!
  • Orange Julius drink.  I was at the mall what can I say?  Nothing that's right I knew what I was doing and I chose to do it anyways.
  • Licorice – the red kind.  My mother-in-law would argue that it isn’t REAL licorice but she’s not here so it doesn’t matter!
  • Rosemary and Lemon marinated chicken with brown rice and peas.  DELICIOUS!  Probably the best thing I had all day.

I can’t remember if there was any snacking in the evening.  I don’t think there was but I can’t remember for sure.  Sorry.

Tim went for a run Thursday evening even after I told him I didn’t think he should because his foot has been hurting.  It’s been puffy and swollen for the past few days and he has finally agreed to going to see a physiotherapist after I pleaded with him for about a week.  He’s only going because he can barely walk on it sometimes.  Oh vey!

We also went shopping to Children’s Place and got some fall clothes for Riley.  I love going to their outlet, they always have such great deals and the quality is quite high.

DSCF0006I got all of this for around 150 bucks!  On the top right there is one outfit for my baby boy.  He never gets anything new so I felt the urge to get him a new sleeper.  So cute!  I also got Riley an awesome orange hoodie with robots on it.  I think it was my favorite thing that I picked up.

I also went to see Julie & Julia on Thursday (that is the reason for the licorice) it was really good and made me laugh.  I have to agree with some of the reviews I’ve heard though.  I really really enjoyed the Julia parts and wanted to see more of them.  The Julie parts were good but honestly they could have made a movie just about Julia Child and it would have just as good if not better.  Meryl Streep did an awesome job of Julia and really brought the story to life.

I had hoped to start painting Lukah’s room on Thursday night but because Tim’s foot hurt so badly we put it off till Friday.

Oh!  The most exciting part of my Thursday was going to the dentist.  It was exciting because I found out that I didn’t need any fillings and that my hunny only needed one done as opposed to the seven (yes, that right SEVEN) fillings they had told us at the other dentist.  They had told me that I needed to have all three of my old fillings pulled out and new one’s put in.  That they were too old.  Hmmm, well apparently you wanted some more money from my insurance company because when we went to get a second opinion we were told there is nothing wrong with old fillings.  I didn’t think you could have to get a second opinion on dental work but I guess I know better now!  Makes me upset that we didn’t go and get a second opinion last year when they told Tim he had to get 13 fillings done.  Makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about how that could have been Riley, never mind the fact that they ran our insurance out for dental work last year and we had to pay a significant amount of it ourselves.  All I can say is if you don’t trust your dentist or think something is fishy.  Get a second opinion, you may be happy you did!

Friday Journal:

  • I’m having a hard time remembering breakfast but if I remember correctly it was two pieces of Squirrelly bread and apricot jam.  I also had a vitamin water.  The one with Vitamin C.  Yummy, I think it might be my favorite.
  • Lunch was Annie’s Shells and White Cheddar split with Riley.  He LOVES this stuff.  Annie’s Homegrown makes a lot of wonderful products, many of which are organic.  If your looking for some good snacks and such you should try their bunnies, at our house we are big fans of the chocolate chip bunnies!
  • Dinner was B A D.  1/3 of a Fat Frank Hot dog, 1/3 of a Honey Ham sausage, and 1/3 of Cheddar smokie, including the buns.
  • Tim also brought home an assortment of doughnuts from works.  I had about a whole doughnut in the end.  Really didn’t need it but the maple one kept calling my name.  Maybe I should make some homemade doughnuts.  I have such good memories of my mom making them when I was young.
  • Later that evening after going to have my paint shaken at RONA (it had been sitting a long time and Benjamin Moore wasn’t open) we stopped at Marble Slab.  So good… but let me say not good for you!  :P  I had  Swiss Chocolate ice cream with nerds, yes that's right Nerds the candy mixed in.   I also topped it off with a dark chocolate dipped waffle cone.  B A D.  It was really good to start off but by the end it had too many nerds and was just too much.  Next time, because I’m sure there will be once more before summer is completely over I’ll have something a lot lighter!

Saturday Journal:

  • Two pancakes with syrup and margarine
  • Ice Cap – so glad summer is almost over, means I won’t want these anymore!
  • Probably something else but I can’t remember what.
  • Salmon, baked potato and corn with fixins’ for dinner.

Sunday

  • I can honestly not remember what I ate.  Sorry.  Bad me.

Monday

  • Woke up late, really REALLY late.  Tim’s alarm didn’t go off.  Split a everything bagel w/ plain cream cheese and 2 timbits and a half decaf half english toffee.
  • Two pieces of chicken and some leftover fries, sugar snap peas and water
  • Stir Fry w/ beef, veggies, shrimp, and some octopus.  Yummy.
  • DQ – Please let summer be over soon!!!

Tuesday

  • Started off really promising!  I started with a Spring Cleaning Smoothie from the Eat-Clean Diet.  Yummy, I thought it was going to be gross but it was pretty good and Riley even liked it.

• 1 tsp / 5 ml Spirulina powder – I couldn’t find this at planet organic so I’m using ChlorEssence, click here to have a look.
• 1 serving hemp protein powder
• 1 Tbsp / 15  ml coarsely ground flaxseed – I used Flax Seed oil, it’s what we had.
• 1/4 cup / 60 ml dry oatmeal
• 1/2 banana
• 1/3 cup / 80 ml applesauce
• 1/2 tsp / 2 1/2 ml vanilla
• Handful of ice cubes
• 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced (Optional: save 1 or 2 slices for garnish)
• 1/3 cup / 80 ml low-fat plain yogurt
• 1/2 cup / 120 ml milk of your choice
• Juice of 1/2 orange

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Pour in a chilled glass and garnish with kiwi. Serve.
  • Wendy’s, blah.  I wasn’t going to do this but Riley was really really good boy when we took Lukah in for his immunizations so we stopped to get fries for the fries fiend.  Small fries, water, and a jr bacon cheeseburger.
  • Large burrito, taco chips, a yet another Ice cap.  I swear Tim Horton’s is making it’s whole store quota off of just Tim and I.

Wednesday

  • Forgot to make ice so couldn’t have my smoothie.  Had half a spelt flour bagel with apricot jam and a vitamin water.
  • Small plate of whole grain nacho chips with salsa and a little sour cream
  • Lemon Dilly Salmon skewers w/ baked potato and peas.
  • 2 medium pieces of banoffee pie.  Recipe coming very soon I promise!  Tasty, not sure if it’s my favourite though, I still prefer key lime.

I’m out of bananas so I’m not sure what to have tomorrow morning for breakfast.  Hopefully I make a good decision.  I would really like to lose some weight this week!  Anyways, I need to go help Tim finish Lukah’s room.  He should be in there for the weekend!  Yipee!  Night!

Your Banoffee Pie
