Yipee! It finally feels like summer is here. When summer comes I don't use as many recipes... I make a plan and switch the nights up depending on the weather and how I feel. I'll still do meal plans simply because it makes it easier to go to the farmer's market and the store and get what we need and not be going every night to the store. Several farmer's markets opened in the city this week and my favourite opens in two weeks and my 2nd favourite opens the first week of June so we will stop going to the store a lot except for milk and cereal. We tend to eat alot of salads, potaotes, fruit, and organic meat/eggs during the summer. Baking turns from cakes and flour heavy items to tarts and fruit with ice cream or even sorbet made with the fruit we got.
I'll also be planting my garden in a couple weeks. I'm hoping to do 3 or 4 kinds tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, carrots, radishes, zuchini's (a green and a yellow), and some potatoes. oh, and 8 different kinds of herbs, my savoy is already coming up! I'm also going to sneakily plant some raspberries in an open area in our neighbourhood... shhhh, don't tell me neighbours, I want all the berries for jam! :)
Anyways, we are going to hit up the farmer's market (the only one in the city that I know runs on a Sunday) and then the store and then a relaxing evening at home. I'm excited to watch Sherlock Holmes on PBS tonight. Woohoo! Have a good week ya'll!
