Another week closer to summer vacation! I didn't do a meal plan this last week. I just used the leftovers we had around the house. I don't have a meal plan and rarely use a recipe when cleaning out the fridge/freezer. We had a tomato/asparagus/pasta salad, pancakes, sausages, smoothes, and fajitas are the ones I remember. We went out on Monday, had to get the littles some sandals for the summer. It's nice to clean out the fridge/freezer/pantry occasionally. The down side is this week I need to restock on a lot of my staples.
We went to the Farmer's Market downtown last weekend. It was a lot of fun. First time I've been that I haven't been stressed out by the end because my kids aren't behaving and are making a scene or I didn't get to see all the vendors I wanted because I had a husband who was walking through the market at top speed because he doesn't want to be there. He just doesn't understand that the farmer's market is for browsing and making a meal plan up in your head as you buy things and firming it up when you get home. I suppose I could stop taking him but I like to make it a family event. The littles eat more food if they are involved in buying it, especially from the farmer's market.
I'm hoping to hit the farmer's market for tonights dinner and get some sausages, tomatoes, and potatoes. I'm thinking we will have Sauages on the BBQ with a tomatoe salald and foil wrapped sliced potatoes and onions. As long as it's not pouring, although it wouldn't be the first time we've BBQ'd in the rain.
Asparagus is in season right now so I am trying to eat a lot of it while it's extra tasty and available locally. Also trying to get some fish in and a soup just to lighten the week up.
Have a good week everybody! Hopefully it's doesn't rain most of the week like it's predicted to do!
